Prepare to watch Kim Kardashian cry fake tears over at least a half dozen more divorces, E! viewers, as the network announced today that it has renewed Keeping Up with the Kardashians for three more seasons.
The new deal is worth $40 million for the family, and that figure does NOT include all the revenue Kim, Khloe, Kourtney and kompany will earn by simply Tweeting and pretending to be your pal on Facebook.
The contract also does NOT cover additional seasons of Kourtney and Khloé Take Miami, Kourtney and Kim Take New York or Khloé & Lamar, along with any future spin-offs producers can conjure up (Kris Does Menopause? Kendall Studies For Her Learner's Permit?).
Keeping Up with the Kardashians premieres its next season on May 20, with the only real question remaining:

DARPA hypersonic glider skin peeled off, says Pentagon
Darpa Hypersonic Glider: The Pentagon has explained why it aborted the DARPA hypersonic glider last year. Apparently, the unmanned craft's skin started to peel off as it reached speeds of Mach 20.?
An unmanned hypersonic glider likely aborted its 13,000 mph (20,920 kph) flight over the Pacific Ocean last summer because unexpectedly large sections of its skin peeled off, the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency said Friday.
Skip to next paragraphThe Hypersonic Technology Vehicle-2, launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, atop a rocket and released on Aug. 11, 2011, was part of research aimed at developing super-fast global strike capability for the Department of Defense.
The vehicle demonstrated stable aerodynamically controlled flight at speeds up to 20 times the speed of sound, or Mach 20, for three minutes before a series of upsets caused its autonomous flight safety system to bring it down in the ocean,?DARPA?said in a statement.
A gradual wearing away of the vehicle's skin was expected because of extremely high temperatures, but an independent engineering review board concluded that the most probable cause was "unexpected aeroshell degradation, creating multiple upsets of increasing severity that ultimately activated the Flight Safety System," the statement said.
Initial shockwaves created by the gaps in the skin were more than 100 times what the vehicle was designed to withstand, but it was still able to recover and return to controlled flight, said Kaigham J. Gabriel, DARPA's acting director.
Eventually the upsets grew beyond its ability to recover.
The 2011 flight was the second time an HTV-2 was launched. The first flight, in April 2010, also ended prematurely.
Data from that flight was used to correct aerodynamic design models for the second test, resulting in controlled flight, and now data from the latest flight will be used to adjust assumptions about thermal modeling, Air Force Maj. Chris Schulz, the?DARPA?program manager, said in the statement.
"The result of these findings is a profound advancement in understanding the areas we need to focus on to advance aerothermal structures for future hypersonic vehicles. Only actual flight data could have revealed this to us," he said.
Most specific details of the program are secret.?DARPA?has released artist renderings showing a craft that looks something like the tip of a spear. After the 2011 flight the agency released handheld video, taken aboard a monitoring ship, that showed a dot streaking across the sky.
The HTV-2 would have splashed down in the ocean regardless of the anomaly. The vehicles are intended to be used once and are not recovered.

1.) Gather Materials
Round up at least 5 feet of Type M ?-inch copper tubing, seven eye screws, five No. 6 1-inch machine screws and nuts, nylon twine, and 1 x 6 lumber.
2.) Map Pipe Mounts
Center a 4?-inch-diameter circle in a 5?-inch-square cut of lumber. Mark the circle at five equidistant points. Insert eye screws at the circle's center and at all five points.
3.) Cut Pythagoras
Cut five pieces of tubing to the lengths in the table below and deburr. The chime's five notes, which correspond to a piano's black keys, make up the minor pentatonic scale. The notes are pleasing in any order. The ancient Greeks such as Pythagoras were the first to study the link between the length of a vibrating body and the notes of a musical scale.
4.) Tie With Twine
Drill a 5/32-inch hole through each pipe as listed in the table. These hanging points produce the best chime resonance. Insert a machine screw through the hole and fit a nut onto the screw shank. Tie a 7-inch length of twine from the circle of eye screws to the screw shank in each pipe.
5.) Hang the Chime
Use a 2?-inch holesaw to cut a clapper from a 1x scrap. Use more 1x waste to make a V-shaped, 3-inch-long wind scoop. Hang each from the center eye screw. Cut and glue two smaller 1x squares to the top of the first square. Top-center-mount an eye screw in the smallest square. Hang the chime in the breeze and enjoy.

The final bits of the Dallas International Film Festival, which kicks off next Thursday, have fallen into place. The Thursday opening night film will be Josh Radnor?s follow-up to the grating Happythankyoumoreplease, Liberal Arts, staring Radner, Zac Efron, and Elizabeth Olsen, with producer Claude Dal Farra in attendance on opening night. The Dallas Star Award will be given to Academy Award nominee Laura Linney, who currently co-stars with Dallas Shining Star honoree Gabourey Sidibe in the Showtime comedy The Big C. No, the television show won?t be screened at the fest, but Kenneth Lonergan?s wonderful You Can Count On Me, which stars Linney, will be shown at Angelika on April 21 after an afternoon conversation with the star at the Nasher Sculpture Center.
The festival has also announced two ?Centerpiece? screenings, both films coming off Sundance buzz.?Actor Todd Louis?s third feature as a director, Hello I Must Be Going, stars?Melanie Lynskey?(Win Win,?Up in the Air) and was picked up for distribution by?Oscilloscope at Sundance. The Other Dream Team is a documentary that follows the 1992 Lithuanian national basketball team, which the Hollywood Reporter called a ?rousing document of how one oppressed country reclaimed its identity and won its freedom in large part through its basketball prowess.? Dallas Mavericks president of basketball operations,?Donnie Nelson, appears in the film, apparently because of a long-time relationship with the Lithuanian team, which is a curious-enough side-note to warrant checking out the movie. ?Nelson will be at the screening.

Sorghum, or durra, is an important forage crop in many countries, for example the USA, Africa, China and Australia.
The plant is grown instead of corn because it produces more biomass and better withstands long periods of drought.
However, when exposed to drought, the sorghum plant produces large amounts of dhurrin, which forms toxic cyanide, i.e. Prussic acid.
Forced to discard crops
Farmers thus face a big dilemma. During a period of drought when they most need food for their animals, they are often forced to discard their sorghum because they do not know how poisonous it is and how much the animals can eat without suffering from cyanide poisoning.
In Australia alone, farmers lose hundreds of millions of dollars each year as a result:
"The fact that the sorghum plant produces large amounts of the natural cyanogenic glycoside dhurrin when exposed to drought is a serious problem for farmers in many parts of the world. Dhurrin breaks down to form toxic cyanide or Prussic acid when an animal eats the plant. So when there is a drought and most need for forage, the farmer can no longer use the crop and it goes to waste," says Professor of Plant Biochemistry at the University of Copenhagen, Birger Lindberg Mller.
New, toxic-free sorghum strain is a breakthrough
Recently, Birger Lindberg Mller and his research group have, in collaboration with, for example, Monash University in Australia, developed a sorghum plant which is unable to produce Prussic acid.
Instead of using genetic engineering, the researchers used plant breeding and advanced biochemical and molecular biological screening methods:
"This is a breakthrough which, globally, can be very important for agriculture, especially in warmer climes where climate change is expected to cause longer and more frequent periods of drought in future. Especially inAfrica, where farmers cannot afford to buy new forage in periods of drought, it is a huge step forwards that they will now be able to feed their animals with sorghum they can grow themselves," says Birger Lindberg Mller.
The University of Copenhagen and Monash University have submitted a patent application.

Researchers from The University of Copenhagen, Monash University in Australia and the Australian plant breeding company Pacific Seeds have developed the new type of sorghum, or durra as it is also known, which does not produce the toxin dhurrin.
Using a population of tens of thousands of sorghum plants in an open field trial, the researchers analysed their way to finding individual sorghum plants which carried a mutation of just one of the genes involved in producing dhurrin.
Some of these plants are completely unable to form dhurrin, while others only produce it a couple of weeks after the sorghum seed has germinated. Dhurrin is a bioactive natural substance belonging to the group of cyanogenic glycosides.
The researchers used effective biochemical and molecular screening methods developed at The University of Copenhagen.
In the plant, which is unable to form dhurrin, a single amino acid has been changed out of a total of 558 amino acids which make up the enzyme. This single change means that the enzyme is inactive. This plant is now used for the subsequent breeding work. Non-toxic strains of sorghum are expected to be on the market within a few years.
The research results have just been published in the highly esteemed Plant Biotechnology Journal Volume 10, pp. 54-66 (2012) as well as being used as the front page story.
