For a period of about five years, I stopped eating desserts completely. This may sound like a strange decision, but I thought it was the best way to lose weight. I also wanted to be healthier so I decided to cut out on sweet treats after dinner. It wasn?t easy at first ? especially when all my friends and family enjoy desserts so much. Sometimes I had to sit on the sidelines and watch them indulge in some great desserts while I couldn?t do anything about it. They would always try to convince me to change my mind, but I knew I wanted to live a healthier lifestyle.
I began to realize that I was making things needlessly hard on myself. It was also becoming increasingly difficult to control my urges to enjoy dessert. Just like with anything you cant have, it makes you want it even more. Eventually I broke down and I started to binge on sweets like never before. This resulted in a tremendous amount of weight gain, and I knew my routine was backfiring. I decided to change things up so that I could continue to eat healthy while incorporating more desserts into my daily diet. It was one of the best things that I?ve ever done, and now I?m able to enjoy full meals that incorporate yummy desserts.
One of the tricks that I use is making desserts myself. Rather than going to the local bakery to buy a pie, I?ll make it using fresh ingredients in my own kitchen. This allows me to use the healthiest recipes possible while having full control over all of the ingredients. Sometimes I?ll even go to a farmers market to ensure that I?m getting the best ingredients that money can buy. While pastries from a bakery are tasty, they aren?t always the healthiest choice. Now I don?t have to worry about that because I have full control over every step of the process.
One of my favorite desserts to prepare is ice cream, and I have successfully made a wide variety of flavors. It?s fun to incorporate fresh fruit in addition to treats like chocolate and vanilla. Ice cream is one of my favorite desserts because I find that it goes with everything. So no matter what else I have in my dessert cabinet, I can always top it off with a nice scoop of my fresh homemade ice cream.
The moral of the story is never to deprive yourself when it comes to your diet. It might seem like a good idea at first, but you have to keep overall nutrition in mind. When you keep a balanced diet that allows you to indulge every once in a while, you increase your chances of success. So when it comes to dessert, enjoy them responsibly, and try making them yourself.
